REVEREND CARLA J. SCOTT

Interim Pastor & Sunday School Leader

Reverend Carla J. Scott is a native of Louisa, Virginia and is the daughter of
the late George H. Jackson and Frances E. Thurston. Carla is a graduate of Virginia
Commonwealth University (VCU) having received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Business Administration. She is also a graduate of Liberty University from which
she earned a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies.
Reverend Scott was licensed to preach in June 2018 and was ordained in
July 2022. She currently serves as Interim Pastor of Wayland Baptist Church in
Louisa where she brings the message on the second and fourth Sundays of each
month. Additionally, she leads prayer service and Bible study each week, and
leads Sunday School on 2 nd and 4 th Sundays prior to worship service. Reverend
Scott is active in multiple community organizations including the Louisa County
and Vicinity Ministers’ Conference, the Spirit of Truth Community Choir, and the
Louisa Branch of the NAACP.
Reverend Scott and her husband of 35 years, Christopher (Chris), have
three adult children, James, Chelsea, and Christian, and five grandchildren,
Paisley, Addyson, Ezekiel, Christian Jr., and Olivia. In 2019 Carla retired from
Dominion Energy after a thirty-three-year career with the company. In 2023 she
embarked upon a new career as a special education teacher here in Louisa County
and she is currently pursuing a Masters of Education degree in special education.
Reverend Scott’s desire is to teach and preach in such a manner that makes
the Word of God plain and relatable. One of her favorite Bible verses is Philippians
3:14, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus.”
